Courtship flight

Sooties (albatrosses, that is)
must fly a courtship flight
to bond them.

After years of separation
they meet and kiss a lot,
giving love.

Then aloft! To soar and swoop,
bank, and bank again;
both in courtship's flight.

Now in unison, again
in counterpoint they fly,
sealing their love.

Love's flight is all they know
and all they need to know,
returning their all.

Hearts court,
soaring ecstatically to exquisite union;
hearts caught.

Reaching the nest they land;
waking with partner's breath
their consummation.
