The Daily Mail isn't a Murdoch paper. It's had much the same bugbears for 100 years - back then it was campaigning against Jewish refugees from the Czarist pogroms. It supported Mussolini and Hitler for as long as it was legally feasible to do so, and has attacked refugees from Idi Amin's Uganda, Pinochet's Chile and Saddam's Iraq since.

The difference is that the Mail does have principles - Fascist ones. Murdoch media are just about building Murdoch's empire, any kind of principle would get in the way.
