Anti-road-hockeyism breaks out in around Ottawa every couple of years. It always seems to originate in one of those suburbs with looping streets where a driver can't get up any kind of speed anyway if s/he has the brains God gave a goose.

The complaints are often based on noise -- like the whap of stick on tennis ball and the yells of scuffling kids are more offensive than, say, hip-hop blatting from the outdoor speakers of the guy-next-door's supersonic stereo.

I think these people think moving to the suburbs gives them the right to live in a bubble hermetically sealed to keep out the noise, smells and activities of others.
