Thread Name: Why do you go to a concert?
Subject: Why do you go to a concert?
I was interested to here what you enjoy most about the experience of a live gig at a folk club or concert.

Perhaps, you like to meet up with old friends to socialise and chat...even when the performer is on stage, or have a few pints/drams.
Of course, there's also the raffle and a chance to heckle the MC.

Concerts and gigs are also a great place for "networking" for many keen "social climbers" and aspiring performers. It's not what you know but who you know after all.

The hobbyists among you might like to take photographs all night and brighten up the venue with continual flashes and make your presence known as you wander around the room, even in front of the stage.
Or you may wish to record the event on camera for You Tube so that people will see the performances for free and not need to bother go to see the band live next time around?
Of course, there's also a chance to practice your journalism and write the odd review or record the proceedings for your very own Internet Radio station.

Perhaps, there might even be a very few extremely sad people out there who have come along just to listen to and enjoy the music. Who knows? It would be great if there were.
