I go to folk concerts to hear performers I like or ones with whom I am not familiar. Sometimes I see performers whose music is in a genre I don't particularly like, but I figure I am supporting the venue. (Most concerts I go to are in nonprofit "coffeehouses" in church basements.) I listen. I only take photos when the publicity person for the venue has forgotten hers. (I am not a volunteer but one of the most frequent audience members, so the volunteers know I will not use the photos in any "bad" way.) In good weather months I go to folk concerts in the region. There, I listen but sometimes talk, too. I sit way in the back, and most people around me are talking. I do try to be alert to any glares in my direction. If I see them, I stop talking. I was reprimanded once by another audience member. I apologized and stopped talking.
