Arriving at Upper Heyford lock on the Oxford Canal last Friday- a whistle in the distance, a second one closer by, and Sir Lamiel charged past with the dozen or so carriages of the Cathedrals Express. The best possible advert for steam power- fast, clean, quiet, just a puff from the chimney each carriage length. Of course, I'd just got off to work the lock, and the camera was sitting out of reach on the boat.
