Thanks guys I appreciate it. I wish I didn't have to but I do. Yesterday 2 men were killed close to my home in a mine. The roof gave way and 2 didn't make it out. Justin Travis and Michael Carter both in their 20's died as a result of the roof fall. It is a sad story that happens over and over. I wrote this song after a cousin of mine was killed in the "Wheatcroft Blast"as everyone around here calls it. Methane build up and improper ventilation caused an explosion that took the lives of several men that day. Many more were trapped for several days in basically hell itself. A friend told me he crawled for three days. The only light he had was the flames that were burning and the sulphuric smoke was so thick he could hardly breathe. He made it out though but my cousin didn't. Last night all the porch lights in Hopkins county were lit all night to honor the fallen men. My brother is a coal miner but luckily works at another mine. My heart sunk when I woke up to see there was an accident in Hopkins County Ky yesterday morning. That is my county and my brother was working that night. One of the men killed has an infant baby so this song is very close. This song means alot to me because I was raised seeing this. Feeling the community loss and suffering the loss of family. Mining is a dangerous job but this is area has very little opportunity. I know some may have veiws about mining and the use of coal on here but please be kind with your words. I know family members of both men killed and it is a very mournful day here in W.KY today as was yesterday. When a miner is lost here the whole community mourns. Everyone knows it could have just as easily been there own kin. Then again the community feels as if it was everytime a miner has to be pulled out. LLKM thanks Dan
