Richie, what sort of line are you drawing between "Gospel Song" and anything else? I certainly think of "A Charge to Keep I Have" as a straight hymn, especially sung to BOYLSTON, which I assume is the Mason tune you're thinking of. Your last comment suggests that anything that's been done by bluegrass and country and African-American singers might qualify in your book. Is your "Amsterdam" the hymn tune, or the song that goes "Amster, Amster, dam/dam/dam" or something else? You don't have "America the Beautiful" (or maybe we have to wait till you get to "O"?), though it's certainly been done by the three "kinds" of singers you referred to.
