Sonnet 15/12/05                         MXXXVIII

In dream I find the chance to hold you near,
And whisper just how beautiful you are.
But dream does not give warmth, nor end the fear
That longing cannot carry heart so far.
How might I win a chance to brush my lips
Behind your ear and upon neck, and touch
The corner of your smile, or kiss the tips
Of fingers? Might my heart yet hope for such?
Yet, all remains a dream: The chilling rain
Hides moon, and stars, and hope. I dare not seek
For heart's desire without thought how to gain
Your own desires: Might you of your dreams speak?
How can I not dream, when I see your smile?
Do you not know you can with look beguile?
