Used to go to the Duke of York in Eccles every Friday night (1969 through early seventies)
Great atmosphere, good quality guest singers: Mike Harding, Ted Edwards, Beggarmen, Marie Little, Bernard Wrigley, Saraband, Dave and June Brooks etc.
They had a great host singer (believe he used to work on the buses) who did fantastic covers of Jonothan Kelly songs. Especially the "ballad of cursed anna" and "Madelleine"
Remember them launching "Guantlet" beer, impressive mailed fist bar totem, but tasted total c**p.
