R. R. MacLeod gives a slightly different transcription of the lyrics to Dry Well Blues, and fills in some of the gaps. Which is more accurate, however, you'll have to decide for yourselves.

DRY WELL BLUES

It was just when I was livin' at Lula, where I was livin' high and at ease.
When I was livin' at Lula, I was livin' high and at ease.
Lord, the drought come and caught us, and then parched up all our trees.

All the good days are over in Lula. We'll bid your town goodbye.
G'days, in Lula, biddin' you and the town goodbye.
Went off when I come to know the day, Lord, the old Lula well was gone dry.

Lord, the citizens livin' around Lula all was doin' very well.
Citizens livin' around Lula all was doin' very well.
Lord, the whole lot of them got together and (Yes), they done bored a well.

I ain't got no money and I sure ain't got no home.
Lord, I ain't got no money and I sure ain't got no home.
The hot weather done come in and parched all the cotton and corn.

Well, have a good look down on the country. Lord, it'll make you cry.
Look, country. Lord, it'll make you cry.
'Most everybody livin' in Lula, Lord, had their water gone dry.

Lord, the Lula women, Lord, puttin' all the Lula men down.
Lula w'men, all puttin' their Lula men down.
Lord, you oughta have been there, (Lord) these womens all leavin' town.
