Sonnet 28/12/05                                              MXXXIX

Vision does not yet see what dreams display,
To give reason smile touches soul. She lends
An air of passion to room: Dare I say
She makes night worthwhile with the joy smile sends?
I long to learn about her dreams, to know
What might smile earn, and what has chance to please.
Yet, should I longing for her think to show,
When I might any hope for passion seize?
I offer verse, and heart: Is there a chance
She might in kind reply? Will she inspire
More than just dream? What is the circumstance
That raises muse from beauty and desire?
She leaves room empty in absence, and gives
With her sweet smile a hope that in dream lives.
