This morning I finished planting the bedding plants I picked up yesterday and last weekend. I've used all of the bags of stuff (top soil, humus, mulch, compost, etc., some left from last year) and have "shopped" my collection of gardening tools and supplies to save money by using what I already have here first. This includes one of those ultra-basic tools, the "weeder," simply a ~18" long steel and wood tool with a "V" notch in the end for digging out weeds. I've had that thing around forever, but forget to use it. It was absolutely perfect for loosening the weeds along the edge of the old garden and digging out the weeds in a crack down the driveway.

The dogs got baths yesterday and got their prevention stuff for fleas and heartworms. Today they greeted me in the garage, wagging up to the gate with a little puff of shampoo smell on their coats. :)
