Sonnet        16/11/00                        CDLXXIX

Do I ask for too much, too soon, to seek
To look into your eyes? Must I pretend
To not care for your smile? Yet, would I send
My words, if I did not care? I am weak
Against emotions: Would you have me speak
Without my heart, as if you had not power
To drive dreams to despair? Would you spend hour
To seal my fate, or free me from this peak?

I am trapped- All directions lead me down
To an abyss, save that I look to you
For inspiration. Would you raise vision
Above this? Is my hope to be but clown,
To amuse? Can I hope to know your true
Opinion, without risk of derision?
