Sonnet 07/07/07                                  MLXIV

This muse's moon gives evening silver light,
But dream cannot see other than the past.
How can I find a source of verse so bright
As thought of her? Does only darkness last?
Dawn does not offer hope: Each day remains
Without a muse's fire. How can heart find
Echo of beauty, when dream's darkness stains
The memory of times I was not blind?
Eyes open, but see nothing: Sight is gray,
When noon light should show all of life's real shades.
What can I do, to remove tears, but pray
To find true muse before all of hope fades?
Time does not alter that I care, nor change
The hope muse might one day these dreams arrange.
