Sonnet 23/11/00                                CDLXXXIV

My thoughts confused by dream, and muse, and verse:
How can I vision see, without the light
You bring into my dreams? Does heart reverse
All I know, to hold me, captive to sight?
Light of my night, muse of my dreams, I wait
For direction: I dare not dreams allow
To guide without your words. I know not Fate,
To see future, or to understand now.
I would that I could hold you, but the wire
Between does not allow my arms to reach
To you. Should I ask more than you desire,
I hope that you will tell me so, and smile.
I would carry away, and at some beach
Seek within eyes what I have sought the while.
