The Canada Goose is a questionable choice.

We have a large permanent (resident) population of them here in Kansas, along with additional ones that migrate through in multiple waves.

Joe has already made reference to their best known characteristic.

Naming this bird as the Canada's national bird cannot fail to elicit the comment:

"It's Canadian. It shits on everything everywhere it goes."

I can see the entire (human et. al.) Canadian population being tagged with an "inherited" - and only partly deserved - reputation.
