Too young to remember Truman. But I remember being shocked at a news bit. It would have been early 50s. He was walking on a street and a man started shouting and spitting at him while security people tried to get between them. We were taught that our leaders were specail men to be honored and respected. I was a child and could not understand such a transgression.
Later I learned that Truman ordered the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Now I still find it ironic that the US is always going on about which countries can't be trusted with nuclear weapons when we were the only ones to ever use them.
