Hi, Ted - I think the "Paradise" you're talking about was one is one recorded by the Everly Brothers - I vaguely a song they did that might have had that title. The one that Bill D can't quite bring himself to call "folk" is this one, which is by John Prine. It sounds like it could have been written a hundred years ago. It's one heck a good song. The line I like best is "Where the air smelled like snakes, and we'd shoot with our pistols / but empty pop bottles was all we could kill." We sang Prine's Angel from Montgomery (which is not in the database) this evening. That one ends with the classic line "How the hell can a person go to work in the morning / And come home in the evening and have nothing to say." John sure has a way with words.
