SRS, That's pretty much what I use for a recipe but I hate sweet and cut the sugar back to a teaspoon. Cut the shortening in with two knives until it is pebbly. Add ice cold water to form a ball for rolled biscuits and extra for a stickier dough for drop biscuits. Crisco makes for flaky biscuits but butter gives a nice flavor. I go 1/2 and 1/2.
