Subject: RE: Tune Req: One octave songs wanted
Roger - sorry, I meant "things that are playable, with or without words." Most of the music that I play I don't know the words to. And since the ocarina is a wind instrument, I wouldn't be able to sing anyway.

Banjo Johnnie - I got it at a Renaissance Faire recently. Here is a clicky for the company. The one that I got is a C/C and sounds really good. Nice mellow tone. Both of the low Cs are a little flat, but I think that's just because I've got too tight of a grip and am pressing my fingers down into the holes too much. Other than that it is really in tune.

I need songs that go from do to do. The makers included a fingering chart showing how to get accidentals by half covering some holes, but until I'm a little more accomplished I'd like to stick with straight fingering. If you know of one octave songs in other scales tho, by all means send them. I'll get around to looking at them eventually, or if I can't find any one octave majors, I'll look into them now.

TIB - Hadn't even thought of those. And I know I've got the music for them around somewhere. Thanx for refreshing my memory. I've thought about trying to do Row, Row, Row your Boat in rounds - starting one side a phrase later than the other - but I think that is beyond me yet.

Steve - Thanx for the info, but I'm in the US. You've given me a place to start looking tho. I've tried doing a search on 'ocarina' on the internet and came up with many thousands of hits. Unfortunately, they were all for some video game. I'll check into the pipes angle.
