Murray: Here's what happened: While browsing through some old, old threads yesterday, I found a thread called "Lyr Req: who will take care of the old home pl". I added a message to that thread linking it to this thread. That bumped the thread to the top of the queue. Then (I'll bet) Joe Offer saw it and decided to combine the two threads. So now you see a message linking this thread to itself.

If you're interested, you can look for messages with that subject line; it will make it clear what happened.

That reminds me: Some time ago, Joe asked me to notify him whenever I find 2 threads that ought to be merged. That's what I should have done instead of creating my own link. Then I wouldn't look like such an idiot.

On the other hand, sometimes I accomplish that without any help.

It does create needless confusion when we have several threads about the same song. Combining threads is a good idea. It just seems like there's a huge amount of work to be done.
