"Anyway, It's no sillier when the USA have some sporting competition called The World Series, when only the USA take part! Lol!"

I used to think along those lines too, until it was explained to me that the competition is named after the newspaper that was its original sponsor, so it's not 'The World Series' at all, it's 'The World' Series. Puts a different perspective on it, don'cha fink?
