I disagree, I think most of us exist within a gramework whefre we need to feel we understand ourselves and each other. "Outsiders" included so to speak, and even more importantly so. Anyone who works with people with mental illness will tell you that their diagnosis, can mean a lot to them. Having a collective objective term with which to understand their otherwise subjective solo experience.

Identity matters, language offers us that. It's not merely "laziness" afforded the intellectual theorist.
