It was a white Ford pickup---with only a dog, no load, in the back. I figure it was an anomaly. I wanted to pull over and catch my breath, but I was on my way to the school district office where my narrow escape served to make my plea that they fund school librarians' positions quite eloquent but ultimately futile because they're cutting even more. But that's another story.
