I did not seek you out, but Fate has claimed
Some part of me. In truth, how could I call
An unknown name? I would not have you named
As muse, save that you are. My heart may fall,
Beyond all reason: I do not repent
Of any words I write. But shall I send
You further lines, without reply? You've lent
Less time than I'd desire: Did I offend,
Somehow? In silence I my sorrow read.
I do not know if you ignore my cries,
Or do not hear them. Heart is not a weed,
To be untended: Without care, it dies.
I do not ask that you should bare your soul,
But your soft words would help keep my heart whole.
