Peter Kent was a Noted Canadian Journalist for years before taking on this posting, and would be well aware of world issues. Also, one would not expect a position like that to be taken by Canada, especially under the current administration, who limits the fredom of government officials and Ministers to make policy statements, like that one, through the media. That is unless Kent has suddenly gone Helen Thomas on us:)
