Which is: when it comes to romance, people are always more for it if they figure it's their idea. This is true of both men and women. The main problem with romance, in fact, is that only rarely are two people equally interested in one another. And the one who is more interested is naturally at a disadvantage...because the one who is less interested tends to back away.

I know this from a long history of being at that very disadvantage. ;-) Then on the other hand, I can think of several women who pursued me...and I barely even noticed them, because I wasn't interested! Poor things. They must have gone through hell. I know what that's like. ;-)

Perhaps the idea of arranged marriages, as practiced in many traditional societies, isn't so bad after all. In practice, it seems to work out about as well as our way does.
