What is the craic with the English phone system?
I always knew that peoples' connectivity varied; I've seen horror stories from people in Idaho, or wherever mentioning that they only have connection for certain parts of the day. That's fair enough, I suppose. USA's a big country, with a fair bit of 'wilderness'.
Norway's a fairly big country (well, it's certainly a 'long' country, anyway), but they have a small population, and the State telephone network is quite good. There are certain areas, though, where the GSM mobile phone won't work; up in the mountains, etc.

Have none of the English service providers got their act together?
I ask this question out of ignorance; I'm not necessarily singling England out. It's just that I have never heard about the French or German experiences.

Are there just too many suppliers, and too many promises being offered customers to switch back to BT, or whoever, that they find hard to fulfil?
