Thanks, Joe- all I remembered (from the 50s also, from my parents aforementioned 10" LP) was the 'thinks it's beter than to use her thumb' line. My parents were not folkies, but may have heard of Marais and Miranda from NZ connections made between '42 and '45, some of which they kep tup with after the wat.
