I think that you must be a muse of Moon,
For daylight makes it hard for me to hear
Your voice, while night is filled with word and tune
Enough for all. Does your light, calming fear,
Wax and wane? Might I hope you would dream show?
Does verse reflect your aura? Can I try
To seize even an ember of that glow
And not be burned? Would trying make heart die?
I do not fear the night, but silence fills
My soul with dread. To be alone, without
Shadow of hope: Absence of concern kills
All I dream, and would make of future rout.
I care enough to risk my heart: I hold
No higher coin: It costs me more than gold.
