I'm not sure "lonely" is the right word in my case. I prefer being in solitude most of the time. When I'm feeling depressed or down, however, I seek refuge in going out somewhere for a meal, reading a good book, occupying my mind on the computer, or doing stuff outside if the weather is nice. Yes, being near flowing water or a body of water does seem to make me feel better. Sunshine works that way too.
