Maybe one of you ex-military people can answer this:
If you retire from the miliatary, are you then totally free of the Uniform Code Of Military Justice? Can you keep your medals, your pension, etc., even if you, say, reveal military secrets or openly trash the active US military?
I would assume you can't be imprisoned or executed by the military for something you did after you retired, but what about the retiree benefits?

(Of course, an ex-general could make a helluva lot more as a lobbyist or executive for a big defense contractor that as a military pensioner.)
