The first four verses were written by Sean O'Callaghan. The other verses have been added over
the years to mark sporting occasions or slag off politicians or neighbouring communities. The
style of the newer verses is very different to Sean O'Callaghan's. Of the added verses; Fr.
Matthew, Christy Ring and the Blackpool girls are the most popular and have become part and parcel with the original.
