If you have time, the meandering coastal highway from SFO down (US 1) is well worth the windy driving.

Now listen, you COULD swing through San Diego, Jacqui--it's only a couple hours more and MUCH more temperate than Las Vegas. If it is gambling you are set on we have several excellent casinos (as long as you don't get kidnapped by Red Injuns). (Just kidding...).

And you get free floor space in town!!

Think about it. The boy might like Sea World, our world-famous Jail for Whales, and we have the best zoo on the Western Half of the country. And there's Wild Animal Park where the animals roam wide-open spaces and the people stay on board the train. Awesome!!
