I can remember my dad and the rest of the family singing the Damper song at a Butlins Holiday Camp in about 1947 - I would have been about 5 at the time - and I can still remember the words now! There were a couple more, too - "Why are we waiting" (to the tune of "O Come All Ye Faithfull), and also "Walls Ices", an advertising song sung as a "round" to the tune of "London's Burning" (Walls Ices, Walls Ices, El Dorado, El Dorado, Icecream! Icecream! Come stop me and buy one!)This would have been after at least SOME rationing ended in the UK!
