Ah....the Cape Lookout Lighthouse is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. I had to take a ferry boat there, to an island that had no vehicles - I was the only passenger - and then I had to walk half a mile or so through an area I thought was snake-infested.
Ah, but it was worth it. Birthdays are a good time to think about lighthouses, since I grew up in the shadow of a lighthouse.
