The last couple days, it's been right about 100^o here at 2,300 feet elevation in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. Christina and I took a bit of a hike on the Tahoe Rim Trail yesterday, at 8,100 feet. It was downright chilly in places, and absolutely beautiful - lots of wildflowers, and quite a bit of snow. Skeeters were bad in places, though. Still, it's very nice to be able to be able to escape 100^o heat and drive to snow in an hour.

My 95-yr-old mother-in-law lives with us, and she really suffers in this heat. We have to watch carefully so she doesn't get overheated.
