Thread Name: Lyr Req: Come, my Lads, Let Us Be Jolly
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Come, my Lads, Let Us Be Jolly
The version we sing (which I think is similar to the one sung by The Young Tradition) is :-

Come my lads be light and jolly,
drive away all melancholy,
to be sad it is a folly
when we meet together.

CH Let union be in all our fun
   for to join all our hearts in one;
we'll end the day as we begun,
we'll end it all in pleasure.
      right-folla-rollarye etc
   when we meet together.

Old King Solomon in his glory
tells us all a different story,
tells us to be good and holy
when we meet together.

Let us not have any fighting,
spreading gossip or back-biting,
these things we take no delight in
when we meet together.

Use the bottle as he passes,
do not fail to fill your glasses,
water drinkers are dull asses
when we meet together.

Do not give us barley water
give us beer and good strong porter,
make 'em pints and nothing shorter
when er meet together.

I wrote the last verse as I thought this version was too short.

But I suppose all this isn't helping Tug.
