Judging by the Sussex Folk Guide, no but it's only a fifteen minute train journey and a ten minute walk at the other end to the Lewes Saturday Folk Club where you will get a warm welcome on Saturday night.
If you click the "Local free sessions" link, you'll find a couple of events advertised on Sunday. I know the The Royal Oak, Lewes session is happening. Not so sure about The Lord Nelson, Brighton. Check with the organiser.
