Humor is a funny thing....
There are times and situations where "borderline" humor like this works OK, and other times when it falls flat on its face. We have a big Southeast Asian immigrant population here in Sacramento. When the immigrants first arrived, there were all sorts of rumors and jokes about pets disappearing and ending up on the dinner table. It was very clear that the jokes were based on bigotry, and I got sick of them very fast.
At about that time, an acquaintance visited me from Florida. As we were driving along, he told me one of those dog-eating Asian jokes. I was tempted to stop the car then and there and tell him to find his own transportation. I didn't do that, but I did tell him very firmly that I was offended by the joke.
And yes, I'm offended by this song. It's clever, but it expresses something that is closely entwined with very hateful prejudice. I can tolerate most things - but I have a hard time dealing with intolerance.
