A bigot is someone who hates and /or is prejudicial toward other groups of people based on their race, ethnicity, gender or sexual preference... That takes care of all the "isms"...

Bias is not the same as bigotry...

That is bigotry in a nut shell and the is among the three words that find most offensive... The other two are "nigger" and "God D***" though all can be used in the proper context, thoough it is very tricky... I mean, when I was a jail house teacher in Richmond City jail I was abouty the only white face in the tier where I held class and my students, all black, would refer to each other as "nigga" like folks call each other "man" as in "hey, man, what's happening"... Well, I had been teaching just long enough for those guys to get to know me real well and feel cofortable with me and then I became "nigga", as well, to them... That is what is meant by context...

This website has certain boundaries and there are certain things that just cross that boundary when it become "personalized"... Lots of stuff doesn't that perhaps should... Callin' other specific members liars is rather over the line, as well... It doesn't mean that those terms are out of bounds entirely, like the black students callin' me "nigga" but things should be done within the confines of the boundaries that most folks here fully understand... I mean, I could give you a list of a hundred offendsive sounding labels and terms that you or anyone could put on me... I mean, anything that Spawzer has ever written I could live with... Commie, treehugger, socialist, asshole, buttface, etc. are all okay in my book...

"Bigot" is not and alot of it has to do with my own struggles in my life to pull myself outta the culture I grew up in where terms andf labels were routinely put on groups of people based on the baove list... Part of it is that my parents brought a black kid into our family when I was a teenager who was like my brother... Part of it is being arrested twice in civil rights marches... Part of it going to DC to work in the Poor People's Campaine (Tent City), or working with drug addicts in the inner city of Richmond, ot living in a rural; area that was predominently black and those folks were my firneds and neighbors, part of it was having a couple very strong women jack my conscousness up on sexism, or having one of my best friends die of AIDS, or spending so much time in Mississippi learning blues licks off ol' black blues players... So, I have not only talked the talk but walked the walk when it comes to wipin' out the "isms" that everyone of my generation was subjected to...

Reckon that's why "bigot" is not only persoanlly insulting to me but downright incorrect...
