It wasn't a jackhammer, Ebbie, because some (fool) in the next building started renovating his bathroom & kitchen a few days later & THAT was a jackhammer.

My neighbour identified the renovator - upstairs next door, across the little courtyard - & also commented unfavourably upon the noise in the construction site, but he didn't say what made it.
