Reminds me of a winter morning a number of years ago. I awoke at my usual time with my usual hangover at that time of my life. Jumped in the tiled shower to let the hot water beat me into semi-consciousness while the coffee perked. Every piece of tile let loose, seemingly at once, and rained down on me. Staggered out of the shower. Shortly stepped out onto the back stoop to take out a bag of garbage. It was bitter cold and the stoop was icy. Feet slipped out from under me. I levitated into a horizontal position and landed flat on my back, the wind knocked out of me. Saw stars. Once I could breathe again and ascertain no bones were broken, I crawled back into the house and finished getting ready for work. Stepped back out onto the rear stoop in order to wheel the trash out to the road for pick-up, completely forgetting about the ice. Repeated the levitation maneuver, complete with no wind and flickering stars. Crawled back up the steps, into the house, and then into bed. Set alarm for 8:00 am, when I called work and told them it was best for all concerned that I not get out of bed again that day.
