I spoke too soon...I did cry when I listened to more of the tape and, yes, it is a treasure. I thought it was just him reciting granddad's poems, but he told some family stories no there which I don't remember ever hearing before including a time when the KKK burned a cross across the road from my grandparents' ranch. My granddad was a commanding figure and as a natural course, in those days, always had a gun handy (it was the olde West after all.) He told them he guessed they could do so as long that once, but if they ever came back and tried it again, they could count on at least half of them never going back to where they came from. They never came back to burn any more crosses after that.

Now, I am off to get Morgan-the Grandson for swimming class!
