The day I locked myself out of the house while putting out the garbage was a classic of the genre. Of course, I was wearing a thin cotton nightie and Birkenstock sandals with bare feet. Of course, it was a week night in mid-November. I didn't know the neighbours, either -- and I don't recommend this as a way to get acquainted.

Fortunately, my brother had a key and came right over to rescue me. That was close one of the longest half hours of my life.
