The idea that attempting to accurately write down the language someone uses is somehow racist is both absurd and offensive. I'm thinking especially of the Uncle Remus stories.

In a way it's analogous to adjusting the words and the notes that a traditional singer uses, because they do not deserve to be recorded and made available to superior people.
