Eat blueberries. Good for the memory! Dan
Ooooooohhhh I do love that as an excuse for the extravagance of blueberries!
On forgotten songs - I keep a "fakebook" of songs I sing, songs I'm learning, and songs I'm planning on learning. Right now I'm on the 6th edition. The first two were paste-up copy machine efforts, those since on computer, gleaned from all over the place. It's a mix of sheet music, lyrics with chords or just lyrics for the melodies that are deeply ingrained. The last couple have included a tune section for dance band music as that gets added to my repertoire.
With each new edition (and I keep the old ones about) I'm surprised to find that there are things that get deleted along with additions. Some I just didn't want to sing as much as I thought, my taste has changed, or they weren't as fun/easy/comfortable to play. In this way, songs fall out of my repertoire on purpose. Going through my book ever'so often makes me think on songs I havn't sung for awhile and decide if I should run through them more regularly to keep them in the always accessible memory.
Even if you're not a performer (I'm not really) you have a repertoire, and keeping a repertoire going needs work; like exercise, it needs doing regularly.
