Thread Name: Cheap books (music) UK
Subject: Cheap books
A local bookshop is having a sale of old 2nd stock and I noticed a few titles that might be of interest to someone.

1) Gem Selection of Scottish Songs. It looks as if it was published in the 1930s and contains over 100 songs arranged for piano. It is illustrated and has short notes. Among the authors (a few are anon.) are such names as Lady Nairn, Burns, and Scott.

2) British Students' Song Book. I think this dates from the 1940s. Very few of the more than 200 songs are trad. Again, arranged for piano.

3) Percy French and His Songs, by James N. Healy. An ex-library book published in 1966. It is a biography of French with photos and a wide selection of his song texts, but unfortunately no music.

For G&S lovers there are :-

4) Songs of Two Savoyards, an illustrated selection of over 70 songs arranged for piano.

5) Gilbert & Sullivan Operas (Famous Songs), a complete set of four volumes in piano arrangement, plus several odd and unmatched volumes.

There were also orchestral scores, some in pocket editions, of classical composers, and a book of Wolf's lieder.

All of them are a bit scuffed and slightly worn, but clean and sound.

If anyone would like to have any of these please PM me with an address and I will buy them for you and post within UK some time next week. It will cost £1 per book + pp. I will probably not be able to reply before Monday.
