LEAVIN ANGUS IN THE MORNIN
(Steve Byrne)

leavin angus in the mornin, as the plover sounds the dawnin
doon the havens past the faem, as fife stands across the bay
for we've left the links a-loupin as the eider gings a-dowpin
tae the ferry we are bound on this morn o loomin grey

well the seats are lyin empty but there's warmth aplenty
for he's countin out his money, aye he's leavin for the day
he'll no be lang in comin back now, but the time is shairly gone
how he'll find his way in england is fit naeb'dy wants tae say

as we pass the rhododendrons, i can feel the day is endin
though the sky's still blue at midnight, feel yer simmer slips away
the days are gettin longer, but yer loneliness grew stronger
for aa yer angus shores, you still feel miles away
